Custom Pickleball Paddles as Corporate Gifts and Event Merchandise
Most branded merchandise is forgotten almost as quickly as it is handed out. A custom pickleball paddle is different. It gets played with, carried to the courts, passed around, photographed and talked about, and it keeps doing that for years. This guide explains how a branded paddle program works for a company, a team, a school, a charity or an event, from the first question to the box arriving.
Who orders branded paddles
The programs we build fall into a few groups. Companies ordering paddles as employee gifts, client gifts or a piece of a wellness program. Brands running an activation, a launch or a sponsorship where the paddle is the giveaway people actually want. Event organizers: tournaments, charity events, conferences, sales meetings, reunions. Teams, clubs, schools and leagues ordering paddles with their own identity. Retail and hospitality businesses selling or gifting a paddle that carries the brand out the door. The paddle is the same in every case; what changes is what goes on it and how many are made.
What goes on the paddle
The face of a paddle is a large print surface, and every part of the paddle can carry the brand:
- The face. Full face artwork, edge to edge, on one side or both. A logo on a solid color, a pattern, a photograph, a piece of art, or the same design front and back. This is where the paddle earns its keep, so it is worth designing for the people who will hold it rather than lifting a logo from a letterhead.
- The edge guard, neck band and grip cap. Standard black is included. Custom colors and printed logos are available, each with its own minimum, because those parts are made in factory lots.
- The grip. Standard tapes and a tan leather option are stock; custom grip colors and branding have a minimum of their own.
- The packaging. A protective bag is standard. A stock retail box with your logo, or a fully custom printed box, turns the paddle into a gift that unboxes well.
If you are preparing artwork, read the artwork guidelines first; the difference between a good proof and a great one is usually where the logo sits relative to the edge.
How many to order
Custom production starts at 50 paddles in cold pressed construction, which is the right construction for almost every gift and event program: it prints beautifully, plays well and is economical at that quantity. Thermoformed construction starts at 100 and is the choice when the recipients are serious players and the budget supports it; this guide explains the difference.
Two practical notes on quantity. First, the unit cost falls as the run grows, because setup and artwork preparation cost the same whether they are spread over 50 paddles or 500; where the money goes walks through it. Second, order a few more than you need. Late additions to a gift list are inevitable, and a reorder of five paddles is not something any factory does economically.
Sets, balls and covers
For events and gifts, a two-paddle set with balls and a bag is a popular option, with its own minimum. Paddle covers can be blank or printed and make a plain paddle feel like a gift. Balls can be branded as well. All of these are specified in the Build Room alongside the paddle.
What it costs, and what is included
Every quote is built from the specification, so the honest answer is that it depends on construction, artwork, components, packaging and quantity. What is always included: a photorealistic proof of the paddle with your artwork applied before anything is made, production on the same line as national brands, inspection of every finished paddle, and shipping quoted DDP, which means freight, duties and customs are calculated and included before you pay, with no import bill when the paddles arrive. What is never included: nothing hidden. A quote comes back within one business day of a Build Room submission.
Timeline, planned backward from the date
Work backward from the day the paddles need to be in hand:
- Shipping. Air freight, roughly 7 to 10 days DDP; sea freight, roughly 30 to 40 days DDP, subject to factory confirmation.
- Production. Approximately 12 business days for cold pressed paddles after payment and final artwork approval; approximately 25 for thermoformed.
- Proof. A few days for the proof round, longer if the artwork changes.
- Quote and artwork. One business day for the quote; the artwork is on your side of the timeline.
For an event two months out, a cold pressed run by air is comfortable. For an event four weeks out, it is tight and the artwork has to be ready on day one. For anything sooner, ask; sometimes it can be done and sometimes it cannot, and we would rather tell you which before you commit.
Do the paddles need to be approved?
Most gift and event paddles do not need USA Pickleball approval, because they are played casually, not in sanctioned tournaments. The paddles are built toward the standards anyway, and a program that wants the approval mark can go through the process, which has its own fees and timeline; here is how it works. The approval mark may not be used without approval for the exact model.
Why it works
A hat gets worn a few times. A water bottle goes in a cabinet. A paddle gets played with every week by someone who likes the game, in front of other people who like the game, and it carries your name the whole time. That is the reason companies keep coming back to it, and it is why the paddle should be designed to be kept, not just handed out.
When you are ready, the custom paddles page covers the programs in more detail and the Build Room collects everything needed for a quote in one pass.
Common questions
What is the minimum order for branded pickleball paddles?
Custom production starts at 50 paddles in cold pressed construction. Thermoformed construction starts at 100. Samples First builds three to ten identical paddles first if you want to hold the product before ordering.
How long does a branded paddle order take?
Factory production is approximately 12 business days for cold pressed paddles after payment and final artwork approval, then shipping, which is quoted DDP. Air freight is faster; sea freight is slower and costs less. Plan backward from your event date and add time for the proof.
Can the paddles be USA Pickleball approved?
They can be built toward the standards and submitted for approval, but approval is a separate process with its own fees and timeline. Most gift and event paddles do not need it, because they are played casually rather than in sanctioned tournaments.
